HISTORY OF DURBI TAKUSHEYI IN KATSINA.

Durbi TAKUSHEYI is one of the oldest and ancients site located in the eastern part of Katsina town, it is about 42 kilometers away from the Birnin Katsina.
The headquarters of Katsina then was Durbi TAKUSHEYI near present Mani Local government. The District head of Mani continues to bear the title of Durbi as a reminder of the importance attached to the area as the foundation of Katsina.
The name Durbi Takusheyi was drived from the word Kushewa ( Tomb), hence Kusheyi means Tombs. It is therefore stipulated that it derived it's name from the numbers of Tombs that were prevalent and seen there.
The exact settles to have settled there was not known, but it is widely believed that, it was the early rulers that first resided there.
The Tombs Kusheyi belong to the people that first settled there. The Tombs were too big, this is because the people that lived at that time are giants set of human beings.
When the British conquered Katsina in 1903, they made their research on Takusheyi, where they did their excavation work there, and they discoved so many things in Durbi Takusheyi, ranging from remains of human beings and their properties. This was because it was believed that the buried people were buried with their belongings.
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION AND CLIMATE CONDITION.
Geographically, Takusheyi was situated on the western side of Mani, South by Muduru, West byvTsagem and North by Hamcheta in the present Mani Local government of Katsina State.
LEADERSHIP
The Durbawa dynasty are the first dynasty that rules at Durbi Takusheyi. They were giants and worshippers spirits ( Iskoki). Their chief priest held the title of Durbi and that title is still one of the most Senior Traditional titles in Katsina Emirate.
